Why kjesrud.ca? Well, first of all, rude.ca isn’t available - I can’t imagine why. I suppose I could have used rudefamily.ca or lavernerude.ca, but I wanted this website and blog to apply to my whole family, and perhaps my greater family (if they choose).
Secondly, kjesrud.ca gives indication of roots - roots that originated in Norway but now exist in Canada. It’s the last name of my great-great-grandmother, before she married my great-great-grandfather (who was a Glorud). They jointly took the name Rud which then later was anglicized to Rude.
Finally, I just think the name is cool. Some day (long from now!), when I’m having a mid-life crisis, I might just change my last name to Kjesrud. Be prepared!
